My, doesn’t that sound posh? Personality Portraiture It’s actually not, as you can see. But, this picture did serve to remind of a very important point – that some of my favorite portraits haven’t been the soft and smooth perfect shots, but these types, where the real personality of the subject shines through. Like this one of my friend, John. Personality, artsy (my friend is accomplished tenor and musician), grainy black & white, an urban vibe…It’s the perfect portrait that almost wasn’t…
This shot was taken just being funny at a recent BBQ we had – the same BBQ were I got this much more formal Portrait of Abbey. When I was weeding through the pictures of the day, I almost tossed this one. Or, at least, relegate to the snapshot file. But, then I started playing with just to try out some black & white techniques and voila! I suddenly had a portrait that I really fell in love with! I’m thinking I should do an entire family and friend wall with fine art portraiture of funny faces…What do you think?
