Villagers Around The Maypole

OK, I have to admit, I was really happy with how these two pictures turned out, from a composition standpoint. They remind me of some of the paintings from the Renaissance of village festivities or villagers going about their days.

I love the look of concern on the one man’s face on the right. And the colors of the streamers. And bright costumes of the cast members.

Again, the bright colors and costumes, the young man with the upstretched arm, the plaids and bonnets and scarves, the signs and flags in the background. I just really loved working on these, although the first one is definitely my favorite. I would love to see them as paintings…
