The Ruins

One Saturday, The Hubs was off on a hiking trip with a friend of his, so my partner, Jay, and I decided to take the morning and head out to some local spots with the cameras. It was a drizzly morning, but what the heck. At least, I wasn’t riding a bike! Part of the morning, we spent at my favorite of all the gorgeous parks in St. Louis – Tower Grove Park. And my favorite spot in Tower Grove? The Ruins.

The Ruins are a favorite spot for wedding pictures and portraits alike. For example, here’s a picture of my daughter from back in 2002, when she was a flower girl in my best friend’s wedding! (This was actually an impromptu shot – The Girl Child had gotten bored while all the grown-ups were getting their pictures done and she scampered up the wall. The photographer was sharp enough to grab the shot before calling me over to get her down. LOL)

It’s so popular, it’s easy to forget to just appreciate them as a subject alone! So, on that Saturday with Jay – since we were lucky enough to be there before wedding season was in fully swing and the park was empty – I decided to make those ruins the Belle of the Ball!

Think I’ll head back down to shoot them again, when the park is in full bloom…
