Better in Black & White

This leftover holiday display is an interesting study in processing. Processed in black and white, it appeals to my love of graphic design.

Shaw's Winter Shoot-1

What this actually looks like in color is a bunch of white, coated wires, shaped, and covered in small Christmas lights. It was probably really pretty lit up in the center of a water fountain. But, shut off and during the day, and against gray and brown barren trees, it’s just an eyesore.

But – shapes! It’s shapes! So, of course, I took the shot anyway. And processed in Lightroom in high-contrast black and white. I really tinkered around with the levels until I had what I wanted.

And, for whatever reason, I really like the effect!

And be sure to find me on Facebook for behind the scenes stuff and general goofiness. I’m on Twitter, too, but be warned – I have been known to accidentally tweet-bomb during baseball season!)
