Hi, my darlings!! This is the last day (hopefully), I’m going to be flat-out behind on my posts. LOL I’m slowly but surely getting caught up after being out-of-commission for two weeks, but with the start of the new year, I’m also just slammed with all kinds of real life stuff clamoring for my attention. It’s been tough finding the time to get caught up!
That being said, I managed to squeeze in all my thrift stores this weekend, but it was SLIM PICKINS! OMG!
So, outside of picking up a couple of back-up, like new sheets to have on hand, this awesome lamp was my only find this weekend, but I had to grab it for The Girl Child’s steampunk bedroom. How cool is that for a desk lamp?
Love the rubbed brown finish with a hint of gold peeking through and the industrial details!
The Girl Child was thrilled with it! At this point, she doesn’t even want to crack open her stash of gears to add to it. It was pricey, ringing in at $9.00, but at least it was marked down from it’s original $12.00 price.
As for the 2012 Wrap-Up, wow, this took me some time! What a year it was!
We had a wonderful Christmas. We are always busy, going from house to house and cramming in as much family time as we can possibly squeeze in.
We had parties with loads of family, friends, and music. We aren’t very quiet or traditional (hence The Little Brother licking his shoes there – don’t ask), but we do have fun! The Girl Child volunteered as Santa’s Helper at a Children’s Breakfast with Santa event again this year, as well.
We had some great events this year. The Little Brother graduated from high school and started college. The Girl Child worked at the Renaissance Faire again and attended a day-camp at The Big Brother’s college, where she learned plumbing, electrical wiring, and basic carpentry. We supported one of The Usual Suspects and had a blast at the Pride Parade. The Little Brother bought his first car on his very own. We marched in the Labor Day parade and in the ALS Walk/Run. We attended a ton of fun festivals. We even found time to rescue, train, and find forever homes for two pit bulls who lost their human momma.
We had fun together with our Staycation, all four of our dogs, and just hanging out together being goofy. Thank God for Instagram and wine…
My favorite projects here on Shona Skye this year are topped by the surprise remodel of my mother-in-law’s kitchen. That was so awesome, seeing her surprise when she got back from Scotland. You loved The Girl Child’s new desk and chair. We looked at shopping your house first when decorating a new space. We tackled organization in my disastrous closet, made pet steps and a coat rack out of actual garbage, baked a gluten-free delicious pumpkin pie for The Hubster‘s primal diet, and created budget-friendly custom gift baskets for those we love.
And you guys stuck with me through every crazy hat, goofy expression, new hair color, computer breaks, and project fails. You all are my friends on the other side of the computer screen. I love your comments, your questions, and your humor! You get me, you really get me, and I love each and every one of you. I can’t wait to see what 2013 brings and I’m SO glad you are here to keep me on my toes!!

I just found your blog and read your bio. I'm a fan of black and white films also. My favorite horror film is The Werewolf and Invasion of the Body Snatchers 1950 version. Subscribing!

Hey hey hey and Happy New Year Kristy. Welcome back to the world of blogging. Wow, you had quite the busy holiday season. Love the score at the thrift shop (even if it was a bit pricey) and all the updates of the going-on's in your life. Thanks for sharing at the Empowered Living hop. Looking forward to another year of cyber friendship with ya.
