The Monday Morning “Goodwill Hunting” Report

Hi, gang!! I’m sorry this post is late! I’m SO behind today!! This weekend, I was really busy working on some projects in the Master Bedroom, plus my mum-in-law was sick. So, we ran some errands for her on Saturday and, on Sunday, everyone pitched in to do the cooking for her weekly Sunday Fry (which is when the entire family goes to her house for Sunday breakfast). Then, we had to to go the funeral parlor last night. Getting this post written up just completely slipped my mind!

Anyhoooo, I did get some Goodwill Hunting done this weekend! It was a decent haul, not epic, but pretty dang good!

The fashion gods of thrift made their appearance this weekend, but not so much the decorating gods. I didn’t see a lot of dΓ©cor or project items that I wanted. There was a ton of Christmas stuff out, but I’m pretty much set there. But, for reals, if you are needing some last minute Christmas decorations, hit up the thrift stores near you! The shelves are packed with some really good stuff!

First off, I got a pair of brand new boots for The Girl Child, who has been hanging on to a pair of knee-high lace-up boots forever. (Seriously, there is a nail head coming up through the heel and she has thus far refused to let me get rid of them!) That fabric on the back of the calf, besides being cool-looking and kind of military-esque, is stretchy, so they fit like a glove. $12.99 on these puppies! Booyah!

The Hubster picked up another belt for work. I don’t know how the man loses belts. Or maybe it’s just that he keeps getting slimmer and slimmer with his new healthy-eating. (Which, incidentally, is not a problem I suffer from, unfortunately.) Anyway, he was happy to find a NWT belt for $3.99!

And that little necklace sitting there? FREE! It’s hilarious! The Hubster literally picked that up for The Girl Child – off the ground! Girl Child had broken a choker cord and wanted to replace it. We got out of the car in the parking lot of a strip mall and The Hubster looked down and saw that. It wasn’t really dirty or wet – it was just laying there! Being a good daddy, he remembered she was looking for a choker, so he grabbed it! We walked around for awhile, to make sure no one was looking for it, but then took it home and cleaned it up for the kid. I’m so proud of Hubster! He’s learning my dumpster-diving ways! The Girl Child likes the little charm, but is going to use it for the “cooler” charm off the choker she broke.

OK, I have to admit, I’ve been a little jealous of The Hubster’s charging station. I picked up this charging station a couple months ago and originally intended to refurbish and sell it. But The Hubster liked it, so he grabbed it from my stash of projects. Ever since then, I watch him neatly plug his phone and Kindle in every night, put his watch and wallet in the compartments, and act like he’s all organized and stuff. (He’s not – trust me.) Anyway, when I saw this charging station for $8, I grabbed it – FOR ME! I have way more stuff to charge than he does – my phone, my Kindle, my bluetooth headset, and my Nintendo DSi – so if anyone should get a nifty charging station, it should be me. Smile with tongue out

I found this adorable peasant-style skirt for MOI for $3.99! It’s shorter than the other skirts I have in my extensive peasant skirt collection, hitting just below the knee. I was excited, because I didn’t have that length yet!

Lastly, I grabbed this cute little sweater for another $3.99. I think this is more summery. It has three little crochet buttons in the center. But I thought it will look cute with a tank or t-shirt and one of my skirts this spring.

So, after getting my cute stuff, I put together this outfit (sorry for the crappy picture):

With the exception of the brown t-shirt, which I bought at Target about three years ago, this is head-to-toe thrift store. The green military jacket I picked up a couple months ago and the scarf and boots I picked up at another thrift store last winter. I got several compliments on how cute my outfit was! I might wear this to some of the holiday parties we have coming up!

OK, your turn! What did you all do this weekend?!! Inquiring minds want to know, people!!

(I would love for you to come back to visit, so please SUBSCRIBE using one of the buttons I have up there at the top on the right. And be sure to find me on Facebook for behind the scenes stuff and general goofiness. I’m on Twitter, too, but be warned – I have been known to accidentally tweet-bomb during baseball seasonl!)
