Hey, gang! I’m back with another update of my progress on the Master Bedroom makeover! If you remember, last week I showed you how to use a piece of trash to make an awesome coat rack. And before that, I employed my tapeless painting skills using environmentally-friendly paint, I managed to disguise a flatscreen TV, and I even conquered the clutter in my closet.
Today, it’s all about decorating – one wall! Yep, I’m nothing if not methodical! Or maybe anal…or super-picky…or maybe I’m just lazy…
I went high on my walls! Lots of length visually is what I want here. The room, as I’ve said before, isn’t big and using the full wall tricks your eye into looking up and down and all around – giving the illusion of more height and space than there may really be.
I put my London and New York tin signs on either side of my Paris clock. They look like the were made to be a set!
I arranged my set of three architectural shelves in a column that fit perfectly between the chifferobe edge and the edge of the coat rack/clock vignette. Nice use of height there, I thought.
The shelves are filled with little chotskies, like this needlepoint picture frame I’ve covered with pins over the years, including the antique courting broach in the top right-hand corner that was The Hubster‘s great-grandmother’s, a sterling silver and ivory rose The Hubster bought for me before we got married, and a collectable stickpin set that was given out by RCA decades ago. And in my frames, I prefer candid snapshots as opposed to posed portraits. That’s me and the hubby out dancing years ago (when I was a blonde and well before he lost his 100+ pounds, obviously)! Snapshots recall fun times, as well as the people in the picture.
This shelf holds a picture of The Hubster from the 80s in his brother’s kilt, a tiny Incolay box from my grandfather, and the cross that was in my mother’s casket at her funeral. (The box holds a genuine Roman Empire coin with the Emporer Constantine on its face – another gift from my man! He knows me so well!)
Now, the other side of the coat rack is still empty. Why? Because that space between the edge of the window and the corner is earmarked for a major build I’m working on and I don’t know how far it will stick out from the wall. So, I can put anything on the wall next to it yet. Patience, patience, patience. I have to live with blankness there a little while longer.
I still have my remaining dΓ©cor items stored on top of my chifferobe, while I find the perfect places for them. The wall on the opposite side of the bed needs a gallery-type layout, since it’s a walk path between the doorway and the bathroom. And I’m not hanging/placing anything until I’m sure that’s where I want it to be!
Yep, I’m anal. I’m slow. And, I’m a bit lazy from time to time, too. But, I don’t want to have to redo this bedroom again for a LOOOOOOOOOONG time!
So, what progress have you made on your projects this week? Do you like to take on long-term projects or do you prefer to stick with things you can get done in a day or two?

Yep, pretty nice!! But truly, I want you to put up a second clock so that there is clock, London, clock, New York – with the corresponding time shown on each one. Sorry, that's just crazy me, but I kinda need to know (without doing the easy math, of course) LOL
OMG that is beautiful wall! You wanna come do mine?? π

I really like how this has turned out π The fun new york and paris pieces are great and I love the contrast with the yellow walls- also love!!
I prefer to do smaller projects, but sometimes even those will drag out because I start then realize I need "a little something" and have to find time to go to the store, or search for things.
That clock, that clock, that clock!!! I love that clock!!!!
Ummm do you want to come decorate at my house?! I have no interior design bone.. and am so jealous of those who do!! π Love the Kilt picture too! hehe Found via the Aloha Friday Blog Hop

I like the London and NY Prints! As for me I use to decorate very fast paced. Now, I tend to take a long time to get a space done so I don't have designer's remorse.
