Hi, there! Glad to see you!
If you remember from my Goodwill Hunting post last Monday, one of the little “treasures” I found was a cheap-looking cream plastic lamp. Honestly, when I suggested turning this into a lamp that would fit in with The Girl Child’s Steampunk-inspired bedroom, she looked at me with a fair amount of skepticism. The shade I found to go with it was OK, but the lamp itself was pretty yuck. But, but it had tassels, so into the cart it went!
This little project took no time at all. I used the same paint technique that I used on the harp detail in my makeover of The Harp Chair. I started by giving the entire base a good coat of black paint.
I followed that up with a dusting coat of the metallic gold. At least, that’s what I call it when I keep the can far enough away to let some of the base color speckle through the color I’m applying. Of course, I forgot to grab a shot of the gold being applied on the messy paint surface (which happened to be on the back deck steps Sunday. LOL) But here is the same lamp:
(I would love for you to come back to visit, so please SUBSCRIBE using one of the buttons I have up there at the top on the right. And be sure to find me on Facebook for behind the scenes stuff and general goofiness. I’m on Twitter, too, but be warned – I have been known to accidentally tweet-bomb during baseball seasonl!)

MONDAY:
What a great find and even better transformation. Does this go w/ "my" harp chair lol?
Hello Kristy, What a transformation, the lamp certainly looks more elegant. I have a lamp base which needs changing, the style is perfect, but the colour is not, so thanks to your handy tips I will be changing the colour with confidence. Thank you for sharing. Best Wishes Daphne
