My Pinterest Inspiration for Making Over My Master Bedroom

I didn’t intend to do a full makeover. Really, I just meant to throw a new coat of paint on the walls…

First of all, your sanctuary should be inviting! You should want to spend time there, rest there, read there, snuggle with the spouse there, bounce on the bed with the kids there! Mine has long since lost most of its inviting qualities. Plus, it’s small. Small-ish. And dove gray. Which sounded charming in theory, but is actually B-O-R-I-N-G in real life.

I have ignored the bedroom for a long time. So how did I suddenly decide to redo the entire room?

Well, I was busy ignoring my bedroom one day when I saw this awesome hall tree on Pinterest. I just fell in love with it. I initially pinned it under Projects until it dawned on me – with a little adjustment, a pair of these would be incredible nightstands / accent wall! And so, the idea of a entirely new bedroom was born – mostly because I had to do this project and I can’t think where else to put it! LOL

Me being me (cheap) I immediately surveyed my house. I do have some good things to work with. Also, did I mention the bedroom is SMALL? So, it definitely needs some serious organization with the beautification!

I have a great sleigh bed. And a gorgeous chifferobe my husband restored for me years ago. And a beautiful antique dresser I found on Craigslist. There are some good bones here to work with.

Once I made up a list of my assets at home, I headed up to one of my favorite salvage places, ReStore, where I picked up two of the most gorgeous old doors. Check out that curve on these girls!

Now, I don’t think these will turn out exactly like their inspiration piece up there, as I have a couple of tricks up my sleeve to make these function as nightstands and amazing wall art.
And I finally picked out the paint! Remember? Originally, I only intended to throw a new coat of paint on the walls? Well, I haven’t because I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect color several months. I wanted warm, inviting, slightly vintage, not dull, but not too bright…Ugh! I was swimming in paint samples! But when I was waiting in line to check out my doors at ReStore, I noticed their paint section and I found my soulmate – well, my paint color soulmate, anyway!

ReStore carries Amazon Select Paints and they are recycled and environmentally friendly too! So that’s a win-win for me! Don’t you love that color? It makes me think of old parchment and maps and things. Which should serve as a clue as to the “feel” I’ve decided on for the job. (I’m not a “theme” person, but this project is going to have a definite flavor!)
So, now, I think I’m ready to tackle this monster project in a small room! You can see all my inspiration on my Pinterest board, Master Bedroom Mastery! And I would love it if you subscribed to my blog up there in the upper right corner to follow along!
